Size guide
Flat measurements in centimetres, and the one trick that makes online sizing work.
Last updated 20 August 2026
The trick
Do not measure yourself. Measure a garment you already own and like the fit of, laid flat, and compare it with the numbers on the product page. Body measurements tell you about your body; flat measurements tell you about the garment, and the gap between the two is what “fit” means.
Every product page on this site lists flat measurements, in centimetres, for the exact size shown. So does every product in the same category, in the same units, so two of them can be compared without converting anything.
How to measure flat
Lay the garment on a table, smooth it out, do not stretch it.
- Chest — across, one inch below the armhole, seam to seam. That is half the circumference, which is what our tables give.
- Body length — from the highest point of the shoulder straight down to the hem.
- Sleeve — from the shoulder seam to the cuff edge.
- Waist (trousers and skirts) — across the top of the waistband, seam to seam.
- Inside leg — from the crotch seam to the hem.

Jeans and trousers
Waist sizes are stated in inches, as the industry does, with the centimetre equivalent beside them. Inside leg is 81 cm as standard and 91 cm unhemmed on selvedge styles.

|---|---|---|---|
| 28 | 37 cm | 50 cm | 17 cm |
| 30 | 39 cm | 52 cm | 17.5 cm |
| 32 | 41 cm | 54 cm | 18 cm |
| 34 | 43 cm | 56 cm | 18.5 cm |
| 36 | 45 cm | 58 cm | 19 cm |
| 38 | 47 cm | 60 cm | 19.5 cm |
Between sizes?
- Knitwear and tees — size down for a close fit, stay put for the fit shown on the model.
- Shirts — size up if you wear them tucked and unbuttoned over a tee.
- Outerwear — size stays; every jacket is already cut to close over a mid-layer.
- Rigid denim — take your true waist. Unwashed selvedge relaxes about 2 cm within a week and shrinks about 2–3 cm in the leg on its first wash. Both numbers are on the product page.
